Tim Collins Born in 1977, grew up in the small town of Plattsburgh, NY. His musical training began at age 6 with piano lessons. At the same time, he began teaching himself how to play the drums. After graduating Plattsburgh High School in 1995, Tim went on to study classical percussion at Ithaca College, where he began playing marimba and vibraphone. He adapted his musical knowledge to the vibes and has not looked back since. After Ithaca, Tim earned a Masters Degree from Manhattan School of Music and continues to reside in New York City.

 

Tim Collin has traveled the festival circuit and gotten kudos from both critics and musicians. Saxophonist Dick Oatts enthused: "His playing combines lyricism with a deep sense of swing". Tim Collins has performed with a broad spectrum of musicians including Miguel Zenon, Ingrid Jensen, Bobby Sanabria and Geoffrey Keezer. His duo collaborations with Ayako Shirasaki have been favorably compared to the duets of Chick Corea and Gary Burton.
