Vinzenz Kummer
Bassist, was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia in 1941, where he graduatedfrom the
conservatorium in 1965. As a student he played with Gustav Brom
Orchestra, Brno Radio Orchestra and Brno Philharmony Orchestra for two
years. Afterwards Vinzenz went to Prague where he established himself
on the music scene. He played with numerous jazz groups such as Jazz
Celulla Laco Deczi, Karel Velebny's Group and the Jan Hammer Trio and
also with the Prague Radio Big Band for four years.In 1969 he played
with the Prague Jazz Quintet at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Thereafter followed a
ten year European tour with the singer Karel Gott. Resident in
Switzerland since 1981, Vinzenz has appeared on concerts and different
recordings with Tony Scott, Slide Hampton, Maynard Ferguson, Hans
Koller, Jiri Stivin, Big Time Sarah, Ervin Helfer, Charles Thornton,
DRS Big Band, Joan Faulkner, Jean Harrington, Red Richards Trio, Hal
Singer- Al Copley Trio, George Morgan- Umberto Arlati Quintet, Fritz
Pauer, Alex Welsh Band Buddha's Gamblers, Lino Patruno- Oscar Klein
European Jazz All Stars, Thomas Moeckel, Jerry Ricks, Jürg
Morgenthaler's «J.M. Rhythm Four», Michael Urbaniak, Mel Lewis,
Vindonissa Jazz Orchestra, Intercity All Stars, Paul Haag's «Twobones»
and Andy Scherrer.

Franco, Teddy Edwards Quartet, Alberto Canonico, Hazy Osterwald
and others.
